Long Time

So, I haven't posted to my blog in a long, long time!  The main reason being that it was just so time consuming to figure out how to get pictures from the camera to the computer, downloaded, saved in the right format and size, and then uploaded to the blog and all that.  Made me tired just thinking about it! And a couple of days ago I found the Ap where I can now do this on my iPad!

So one day last summer, I had my own little private quilt show.  I took 16 of my quilts outside and put them on the garden fence and the chairs around the fire pit. I took the pics thinking that I would put them blog and now I'm glad I can! Love it!

Walk in the Woods

We had a lot of rain last night and the walk in the woods with the dog:
produced a lot of pictures of just amazing mushrooms! Now I really don't know any thing about them except they grow in the woods, some are poisionous, and some taste really good! I would never pick any except in the produce isle of the grocery store!
There were mushrooms of every different size and color...Pretty cool!

Many years ago at the urging of a good friend I decided to plant a couple of perenial gardens. Several years ago after I spent a whole weekend weeding and mulching just one of those gardens, I decided I didn't like gardening, at all! So those sad gardens have pretty much all gone to weed and invasive perenials! There are still a few nice flower here and there so I took a few pictures the last few days of those sad blooms!
For the fourth of July yesterday we went to the inlaws for a bit. My father in law has a green thumb and I took a few pics of his flowers and lettuce too.

Out and About

Not enough hours in my day! Lots of computer issues around the holidays! Wanted a new camera because someone told me I needed better pictures! So I was out and about with the new camera a few days ago. It had been raining and everything was kind of dewy wet. Took some cool pictures but have a lot to learn about this camera! Pretty Birch Trees! Check out the red roots on the bottom plant, growing on top of a rock! Very cool! I will get back to some quilty stuff soon!

Retreat Weekend

Hi All - Haven't posted in a while. I've been in Houston for Quilt Market and then came home to no power but it did come back on for the shop's 11th Anniversary Sale. Worked four days for that and then headed to Cape Cod for our annual retreat last Wednesday. My sister is here too, so it's fun spending time with her. All I brought with me was UFO's so I have some things put together.

The first thing I worked on was a double wedding ring that I am paper piecing the arcs and realized I forgot the papers at home. Finished the ones I had started and moved on to the next project!

This was the second thing I did. It's an old Thimbleberries pattern that was meant to be used as a charity quilt but I was doing this for a friend of mine. I ended up short 4 2 1/2 squares so worked around the hole it left. I have some at home so it will go home a UFO too! That's my sister in the space but I thought it would be a good place to stick your feet through when you're having a hot flash!

This was the next thing I worked on. I took a school house class from Martie Michel in Houston and this was her design. Four fat quarters make the four blocks and then just added borders. Though it might make a good class for the next session.

I had these blocks done some time ago but never put them together. I think it went together very nicely and am really pleased with it. The nice part is that I already know how I want to quilt it!

I thought I would be a little artsy and take a picture of my bindings all ready to go! Looks kind of cute!

One day left to sew away and then pack up and head for home! Will miss my sister til I see her again! Happy Quilting!

Nice Weekend

It is a beautiful autumn day that seems like it should have happened in August. We were invited to some friends that live in a beach front community on the CT shore.  We walked the beach both days we were there, had our feet in the water, with the sun shining bright.
We also had our dog with us!  He was afraid of the noise my camera lens makes and started barking at it! This was the resulting picture!
Nice weekend!  Good friends, good food, good time!
Happy sewing,  Michelle

New Addition

I normally drive a Janome 6600 but I needed a new reliable second machine. I have my old Bernina 1630 but it has been having some electrical issues.  It made a trip back to the Bernina factory this summer and of course didn't do the craziness for them, sat on a work table all day and behaved itself.  So it came home with nothing done to it.  The first time I plugged it in the needle went crazy and the screen froze!  So, my sister is flying in for our retreat in November and I needed to have a machine for her to use to so....meet Flo!  If you want to know where her name came from you have to ask. So she joins my sewing machine family.  Besides the 6600 and old Bernina, I also have 4 featherweights (3 black, 1 white),  and old Bernina Deco for embroidery, a blind hemmer, a ruffling machine and of course the Gammill.  Flo should feel right at home!  Happy sewing,   Michelle
